MERIDIAN ZERO · AFTER THE CONFERENCE PLATE OF 1884
Plate 305 · 1884
Meridian Zero
The 1884 plate is the house's strangest commission: a map of the argument itself, not the ground. It charts the claims of every delegation to the meridian conference as lines of latitude, each weighted by how hard its delegate argued, with the eventual winner cut in full and the losers left in broken rule. The facsimile was engraved in 1984 from glass photographs of the lost original.
